A lot of the problems with the ones that are only ok is the color and clarity (2 of the 4 C’s) The cuts are pretty clean for the most part.

Well, today I was doing some surfing looking for some blog material when I stumbled upon something else. It appears that I can get the equipment to cut stones for about 1/3 the start-up cost of the screen-printing. The problem comes that while I can probably start seeing something from the screen-printing business in the first month, while it may take 4-6 months before I can get good enough to start earning anything from the gem cutting. With the money I saved, I could pay up my bills for 6 months. Both options would work into my final store. Please give me your honest opinion. I am sitting on the fence, I need your opinions about which side I should fall on. Thanks for your help.

I personally thought it would be a good idea to collect large individual gemstones as assets. I love the color and variety of gems and also came across a very good article about gemstones on the Worth website under Passion Investments. The puzzlement is that I recently had a conversation about this with an older wealthy lady who said jewelry is a lousy investment because it doesn't appreciate. I would appreciate any opinions about this. As I said, I would like to continue gem collecting, but not if it is simply a waste of money. I know there are variables, but over all...?

We are cleaning out our studio and have a bunch of faceted czech glass beads (the little ones) and glass beads, hematite, base metal findings, and other random beads we are selling. We are just selling it all in one big bag (actually 2 bags - one with just the faceted czech beads and the other with czech plus glass plus everything else.) I have pictures of the beads and can give more info if anyone is interested. We are looking at the $150 range per each bag of stuff. We bought most of them via catalogs years ago so there are many varieties or colors in multiple strands - this is good for a jeweler who's selling his/her work. You can reproduce pieces. These beads are ideal for someone who is doing a lot of beading fin their work, or teaching beading techniques to a class. Please e-mail me if you want more information.

We also have some trade beads we will be getting rid of as well - ask if you'd like to know more about those.

I don't know much about the realm of cut gems, and i'm not sure how best to go about finding a home for this stone. Its quite large for the material, and depending on the market, it could be worth quite a bit of money.

Some people are telling me no because of the fact it's a silver ring. But the lady selling the ring states that the stone(a star sapphire) is worth $500 by itself.
Hello everyone,

I just got an order for a custom Arab show horse halter, and need some turquoise or any suitable stone (she doesn't care what stone, only what color) of a brilliant blue-turquoise color. I have to make or modify some beads to have holes approx 4mm to 4.5mm diameter to fit on the cordage. Then I need 2 larger pieces the same color, anywhere from 20mm to 40mm overall and can be flat.

I have the saws, drills, polishers, etc. An ideal solution would be a piece of 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick slab of reconstituted turquoise.

Anyone? Ideas, places to look?

Thanks,
:-)
